Garforth Pearl Anniversary

30 years ago, on 10th September, Brian Rimmer gathered together a group of fifteen like-minded people to form the Garforth Bridge Club. Of those fifteen, Jean Barstead, Harry Boddill, Margaret Stanton and Brian himself are still amongst the hundred strong membership of the Club. We shall be celebrating the Pearl Anniversary at The Cloisters on Tuesday, 13th September. (Tickets are available from Maureen Croll or Margaret Stanton)

The Club venues have progressed from Primary school (no alcohol) to our present resting place, Barwick Cricket Club with a BAR! Brian's simple ambition to hold one evening's bridge, has escalated to three club nights, a very successful Swiss teams event and 4, sometimes 5, teams entered for the Yorkshire League matches.

Many generous members have given their time for the benefit of the Club by serving on the Committee and by organising events. On behalf of the Club, thank you. Thank you, too, to the future officers and members who will continue, I hope, the fine tradition of enjoyable, sociable and keen bridge for the next 30 years and more.
